Man in the Maroon Out Today!

My 8th Studio Album Man in the Maroon is out now! Available wherever you listen to music. Ten tracks and one short story

Man in the Maroon is out today, everywhere! 45 years of one person’s running around on the planet having adventures, making mistakes, finding friends, losing loved ones, growing up. Somehow I distilled it into ten songs and one fifteen minute short story.

Like me, this album doesn’t fit very well into a category. There are a couple rock tracks, some gospel, banjo songs, piano ballads, a ukulele adaptation of Moon River. It’s what I did with my pandemic, while we were all Marooned on our little islands. I tried stuff.

But a lot of people helped. For one, folks have asked me who made the cover art. The answer is Sarah Summer, a multi-talented artist based in Arizona. Also I owe a big fat debt of gratitude to my man Skylar Wilson, who co-produced this and put me in touch with a top-shelf band and mixing engineer. He also talked Erin Rae into singing vocals on a couple tracks (Papercuts and Soft as a Cactus) and my now friend Emma Fitzpatrick into singing those harms on Christmas Rain. The ladies kicked everything up about 6 notches. And Bill Miller, whose singing and playing on Crow Country is the musical highlight of my career so far and I’m not kidding. Thank you David McClister, who I’ve basically idolized for 10 years, who took so many nice photos for the album it was hard to choose which ones to use. And a hearty hurrah for my friend Michelle Pak, for helping me organize the presale, and basically keeping me alive for 4 years. Lastly what would I do without my TEAM - my label Grind Ethos, and my publicist Mixtape Media.

I know there is a lot of music coming out these days, and I’m so grateful to you guys who have listened to my songs and shared them with your buddies. I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t make art. Thank you. Here’s to everyone that worked on Man in the Maroon 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽 👏🏽
